About

I graduated from the London College of Garden Design in July 2011. As well as achieving a distinction, I was also awarded the External Examiners Prize by Cleve West for my final project. Whilst at college I did two weeks work experience with Andy Sturgeon, and have since gone on to freelance for various established designers, including Jo Thompson, Adolfo Harrison, Matthew Childs, Butter Wakefield and James Alexander Sinclair, many of whom (and many more) I still work for regularly.

I was asked by the RHS and Andrew Fisher Tomlin to design a stand for them at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2012, and was back there again in 2014 project managing the build of an 8 x 12m garden for Perennial, and then again in 2017 project managing the stonking Listening Garden, and then this year the IKEA/Tom Dixon garden with a budget of £400,000. I am not sure what next year will bring – hopefully something slightly less epic (and stressful!).

In previous lives, I got a BSc Hons. (2:1) in Computer Science, spent my days pan-frying foie gras and making sugar nests in a high-end restaurant, lived in a hammock in the rain forest for three months, and worked in advertising agencies for clients as diverse as the island of Jersey, RBS, T-Mobile and a global treasure hunt with a £100,000 prize. Before starting at LCGD, I lived in Japan for several years, teaching elementary school children and training in karate every day.

Because of my strong computer skills and client-facing project management background, I realised that I had a lot to offer as a freelance design, CAD and project management ninja, and my love of the flexible lifestyle has lead me to be more proactive in seeking freelance work with other designers, hence the creation of this portfolio to display some of the projects I have worked on to date.
